1965 Bathroom Makeover.

Where do I even begin with this one? This house might just be the quirkiest I’ve stepped into in years. Why, you ask? Because it felt like stepping into a time capsule. Every room—yes, every single one—was a tribute to 1965. The retro furniture, the old-school kitchen, the vintage living room, and even the bedrooms all stood untouched by time. It was like walking through a living museum. Even the smell of the house brought back memories of my dad taking me to visit my nana and grandad.

From the moment I walked in for the survey and quotation, I knew I wanted this job.

After completing the bathroom makeover, though, I’ll admit I felt a little torn. The original bathroom, while undeniably outdated and well past its prime, had a certain charm—vibrant, nostalgic, and brimming with character. As someone who tears out bathrooms week in and week out, it’s usually a no-brainer to get excited about modern transformations. But this time, the “before” photos tugged at me in a way I didn’t expect. It’s rare to feel a connection like that to the old, but hey, that’s just my take!

Now for the exciting part: the after. We made full use of the generous bathroom floor space to create a luxurious walk-in shower, paired with a wide bathtub. A floating basin enhances the open feel, leaving plenty of room to move around comfortably. Large-format tiles were chosen to make the space feel even bigger and brighter.

While the photos may not fully capture the level of work that went into this transformation, trust me—it’s stunning. This install is a perfect blend of practicality and elegance, proving that even the quirkiest of homes can embrace the modern era without losing their soul.
